Introduction
Many stories in Greek mythology were about gods and goddesses and how they organised the lives of man and woman. There was also tales about heroes and their stories.
Heroes
Oedipus
Odysseus
Odysseus was a hero. He and his men sailed passed the island of Sirens, Sirens had the bodies of a fish and the heads and voices of a women. Sirens sang to the sailors to attract them to the island where it would wreck their ships and kill them. But Odysseus blocked the ears of his men and tired himself to the mast of his ship so he would not be tempted to go to the island.
GodsZeusZeus was the ruler of the gods and controlled the heavens. He married his sister Hera and was unfaithful towards her. He had affairs with many women and appeared in disguises like a bull, shower of gold or a swan. His symbols were the thunderbolt, an eagle and an oak tree.
PoseidonPoseidon is the ruler of the sea. He is the brother of Zeus. He lived in an underwater palace, where his gold chariot and white horses are. People thought Posiedon caused earthquakes.
His symbols are the trident, dolphins and horses. HadesHades was the ruler of the Underworld, the Kingdom of the Dead. He guarded the dead, rarely letting anyone return to Earth. He owned all precious gems and metals on Earth. He drives a gold chariot and black horse.
